Michael (Mike) Larson

Since the removal of his brain tumor, Mike, age 47, continues to suffer from headaches and memory loss. He has stopped driving alone for fear he won't remember how to get back home. He spends much time at home working on product surveys on the computer as a source of income. He has moved in with his brother in Wisconsin and continues to be followed by physicians at a local VA Hospital.

  • Hello, I would like to thank everyone that wrote to me. I would have written sooner but I am living in a Veterans Assistance Foundation. I am doing great except for my memory. I have tried and tried to get a job but they all said that I need a better memory so they can leave me alone and do their own work. So I have tried to apply for Disabilty also and they say no. My brother moved me here to Tomah, Wisconsin to live with him so he can take care of me till I can find a way to get some money for me to live on. Now him and his wife got into a fight and he moved to W.VA and she told me I had till 5:00 to get out. Thats how I got here. If you would, please pray that I hear something good for me to make it. Thank You Michael Larson mikelarson47@yahoo.com

  • I just want to thank everyone for the your nice words to me. I am doing good health wise. Except for my memory, I have no problem doing things. But if I get something or someone to distract me I forget what I was doing. So I have tried to work but I they let me go because of my memory. I have no income at all. So I am staying at The Veterans Assistance Foundation at Tomah, Wisconsin. My brother had me come here to live with him but him and his wife got in to it and he moved and she told me to get out. I have no money or any Disabilty so that is why I am staying here. Hopefully they have seen the show and change their mind and give it to me. My computer time is over for now so I have to go. Thank You again. Michael Larson (mikelarson47@yahoo.com)

  • Dear Mike, I may not know you, but I admire your strength. I don't know what it is like to go through a surgery like that, but I know what it is like to now no your own blood. I am almost 24 and I have a twin sister and a brother. None of us know our real father. He was in the airforce too. Our mother took us from him. I can tell you as a kid, I would love to know my real father. So when you meet them, it will be worth it!!Take care!

  • Dear Michael, I don't know you, but I know what you went through can't be easy. You seemed incredibly strong to go through that. I can relate in another sense though I am almost 25 and my mom took us away from our real dad whom was in the airforce as well. I have a twin sister and an older brother and we don't know our real dad. I can tell you that when you find your kids, they will be happy to know their father. Everyone deserves to know their father. Good luck!

  • You are an amazing person. You are a very strong person and kept a positive attitude. During the show when they had that little scare when you were not responding after surgery, I was crying. I know there is a lot of emotion for you. But you can only continue to positive and look forward to what is ahead in your life. And I hope your children understand what a great father you are. And I know you won't get the lost years back, but you can share the future. I wish you the best and can't wait to see updates in the show.

    Keep positive.

  • I AM A NURSE AND I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE GO THROUGH AMAZING THINGS. I think it is so amazing how you have handled this situation and on national t.v. I have seen so many people go through things alone and it was so heartfelt to see you call on your cousin . Family is important no matter what that family is. You will do well because you are strong and you see things for what they are.Remember that your life has meaning maybe not to the president of the united stated but there are people out there that love you and will miss you. Take care and be strong! !

  • Mike, I too had a meningioma that was treated by surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in March 2008. My tumor was small enough to use radiation surgery so that I didn't have to have my head cut open. I thought that I was over this emotionally, but when I saw your show a flood of emotions went through me that I didn't even know I had. Thank you for your courage - and I hope that you find your kids and renew a bond with them. If you ever want to talk please email me.
